This new condo project is something a little different than your average high-rise, while still being in a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood.

Oscar Residences is a new 9-storey mixed-use boutique condominium development by Lifetime Developments in Toronto. This pre-construction condo is located at 500 Dupont Street, on the north side of Dupont Street, just west of Bathurst.

Lifetime’s proposal for this space involves a building with a total of 155 luxury suites with a mix of studios to three bedrooms.

Amenities

Oscar Residences site will be occupied by a four-storey podium, while the 5-storey mid-rise portion will feature a series of cantilevers, setbacks and terraces, creating architectural intrigue and contributing significantly to the area’s regeneration.

The ground floor will house a residential lobby, accessible off a private sidewalk on the site’s west side, bicycle storage and three separate retail spaces, including The Beer Store, which currently occupies the site.

The second floor of this new building will feature 3,164 square feet of indoor amenity space, connecting seamlessly to 4,327 square feet of outdoor amenity space. The building will be designed so levels two through four are U-shaped, overlooking an interior courtyard, while all levels up to the fifth will be cantilevered with inset balconies, providing covered pedestrian space at grade. The amenities will include a chef’s kitchen, salon lounge, theatre room, outdoor dining terrace, fitness centre, pet lounge and dog wash station.

The unit mix calls for studio units, one-bedroom and one-bedroom-plus-den layouts, two-bedroom and two-bedroom-plus-den and three-bedroom layouts, for a total of 155 residential suites. The suites will range from 340 to 1,314 square-feet. There will be 127 parking spaces and 228 bicycle spaces are proposed in two levels of underground parking.

Location & Neighbourhood

Oscar Residences is located at Midtown area close to eclectic shops, cafes, services and supermarkets along this stretch, making it a great neighbourhood for convenience. It’s also a short walk to both George Brown College and the University of Toronto.

This Neighbourhood isn’t seeing the hyper-intensification and expanse of glass skyscrapers we’ve been seeing in some neighbourhoods, but it has steadily been undergoing a regeneration in its own way. You’re much more likely to see thoughtful and contemporary boutique buildings along this stretch, many of which incorporate retail or high-end office space.

The immediate area around 5this project has access to a number of public transit options, including several bus routes and is a ten-minute walk from both Bathurst Station – which connects to the subway’s Line 2 – and Dupont Station – which connects to Line 1.

Many residents here love the proximity to Yorkville, which is a short subway ride or stroll away. Yorkville’s upscale dining, shopping and art galleries are within reach yet homes in this part of Midtown are not nearly as pricey. The site of the condominium scores 92 on its Walk Score and 89 on its Transit Score. 

It’s also a popular neighbourhood for families, with plenty of access to schools, libraries, community facilities and parks, including the well-known Christie Pitts. A lush network of ravines runs through much of Midtown, creating an enviable oasis for dog walkers, joggers, or those craving a momentary escape from the city.

We’ve seen a handful of luxury boutique condominiums proposed for the surrounding area, along with some upscale townhomes. Combined with developments like this one, both artful and practical, we’re expecting somewhat of a renaissance along the stretch.
